Emily wrote a short story last night before bed. It's not as short as some of her previous work; (remember "Water"?). Here goes:
The Soccer Girl
Once upon a time there was a girl who was a good soccer player. Once at a game the girl barfed. She had to go to the doctor. She had the sick. The team was so sad the girl had to go home. The team lost the game. They needed her. When the girl was better everyone was so HAPPY.
Last Sunday in between breakfast and an afternoon function at the school, the girls and I wrote a song about our dog. After writing the lyrics, I filmed the girls "rapping" outside with Sake in their Japanese garb, layered a three-string guitar in the background, added a title and credits and burned a CD to send to the Washington Post. With any luck, we'll win the "Ode to Your Pet" contest and a $100 cash prize.
One morning before school, Tim was pouring the girls some chocolate milk while their grandmother served breakfast. Sarah declared, "Boy, we're getting attention from everyone. This is the life."
