January 2007

We had a wonderful holiday in Chicago, visiting family and friends for a week. Sarah and Emily decorated Christmas cookies, ate lots of sweets, watched way too much television and messed up Grandma’s house. I had a great time.

Getting dressed for a Christmas gathering at Grandma’s, Sarah and Emily were fighting over The Red Dress. The other frock was the same style, in navy blue velvet. To resolve the dispute, I suggested they switch garments when the party was half over. This really confused everyone.

Emily was taking her bunny’s temperature with her new Fisher Price medical kit. I asked what bunny’s temperature was and Emily replied, “it’s usual.” (I think she meant “normal.”)

Sarah and Emily started ice skating lessons last weekend at the new rink near our home. Sergey is their teacher. (He’s Russian.) During the first lesson, he taught them how to fall and stand up again. Both girls said “skating is a lot harder than I thought it would be.”

One night when the girls were getting out of the tub, Emily asked, “how did we get in your tummy anyway?”
Sarah and Emily made this "cake" with an Easy Bake Oven. It does not look like the picture on the box.
