April 2010

During a recent outing with her father, Sarah mused, "I'm glad you married Mommy, otherwise I'd look different."

Emily is very concerned about her status as an individual. This spills over into her relationships with others, too; not just her twin sister. I found the attached letter on my pillow one night before bed. Names have been changed.

Both of the girls are reading the Harry Potter series. On Sunday, Sarah and Emily played Quidditch* with their Uncle Eric using a push broom, a floor mop, and a soccer ball. Sake** was very upset.

Sarah and Emily are now receiving Early Orthodontic Care. Their first day wearing Maxillary Expanders*** was awful for them--and for their parents. The first day, Emily spent half an hour in bed, crying.

*Quidditch is a fictional sport developed by J. K. Rowling for the Harry Potter book series. It is described as an extremely rough but very popular semi-contact sport played by wizards and witches around the world. Matches
are played between two teams riding flying broomsticks.
**Sake is our dog and he does not like Quidditch.
***A maxillary expansion appliance, also known as a
rapid palatal expanderpalate expander or orthodontic expander, is used to widen the upper jaw so that the bottom and upper teeth will fit together better.
